This Friday, September 24, 2010, is Native American Day in California. In 1968, Ronald Reagan signed a resolution calling for a holiday called American Indian Day, to be held the Fourth Friday in September. In 1998, the California Assembly passed AB 1953, which made Native American Day an official state holiday. This year the celebration at the State Capitol will be held on Thursday, September 23 - see attached flyer.
There are many celebrations taking place throughout the state, check your local newspaper for activities near you. I've also included some websites for more information:
