Corn, developed by native Americans, is the only plant i know of which must be sowed and harvested by hand in order to ensure its survival. At the same time, it is now planted worldwide and has spared millions from death by starvation. it seems to me that 'science' hasn't really solved all our problems.

I am Karuk Tribal member from the Klamath and Salmon Rivers. I am from the villages of Katimiin (upper falls) and Utimiin (lower falls). I am from a family of Dance Makers. I Dance in the Brush Dance, Flower Dance, War Dance and the Pikiyavish (World Renewal) dance and participated in a Jump Dance to reclaim our Tribal land. I am a traditional gambler and singer/drummer. I am a founding member and Chair of the Karuk Language Committee. I am currently the Operations Director of the Northern California Indian Development Council (www.ncidc.org), a non-profit that meets the community development needs of American Indians throughout California. I live with my wife Wendy and son Kyle in Arcata California.
