I finally got to reading this article. AS much as I love this country, I also love truth. I totally agree. I have similar memories. Thanks for a great article. I sincerely believe that if we faced the truth and told it like it was, we'd be a stronger and more compassionate, humble country. Arrogance is not consistent with the best of what this country was founded upon despite it's history that reveals us as imperfect in adhering to these lofty ideals. A country that is truly great admits it's past wrongs and does everything it canto rectify, bring healing and provide some measure of restitution to those we have wrongly trespassed against. If we did such things then we truly might be true to the values we claim to champion. Thank you for your insight.
